Werkstatt Access & Security
A practical security system for the workshop (Werkstatt) — not a Hollywood setup, but a reasonable tool to stay confident about what’s happening in the workspace without wasting time on manual checks.
Scope
Two main subsystems:
Access Control
- Door lock management — electronic lock with RFID or PIN entry
- Camera integration — live view and motion-triggered snapshots
- Entry logging — who entered, when, with what credential
Security Monitoring
- Door and window closure sensors — magnetic reed switches or similar
- Status dashboard — at a glance, see what’s open and what’s closed
- Alerts — notification when something is left open or opens unexpectedly
Design Principles
- Simple and reliable — no cloud dependency, runs on local network
- Low maintenance — sensors with long battery life or wired power
- Non-invasive — no structural changes to the building required
- Practical — solves real daily concerns, not over-engineered
